Terms of Service

Last updated: May 2026

These terms govern your use of Ask the Record, operated by Visionairy, LLC, an Oregon limited liability company (18160 Cottonwood Rd PMB 263, Sunriver, OR 97707). By using Ask the Record, you agree to these terms.

The service

Ask the Record is an AI-powered research tool that searches and summarizes declassified US government documents. Answers are generated by AI and cite the underlying source documents. The service is intended for research, education, and general interest — not as a substitute for legal, intelligence, or professional advice.

Accuracy and limitations

AI-generated answers may contain errors, omissions, or misinterpretations. We make no warranty that any answer is complete, accurate, or current. All cited source documents are in the public domain as works of the United States government — we do not hold copyright over them. Always verify important information against the original document.

Your account

You are responsible for all activity under your account. Do not share your account or use the service to circumvent the question limits of another account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Acceptable use

You may not use Ask the Record to:

  • Scrape or systematically harvest the service or its outputs at scale.
  • Attempt to extract, reproduce, or resell the underlying document corpus.
  • Circumvent rate limits through automated means.
  • Use the service for any unlawful purpose.

Subscriptions and payments

Paid plans (Pro subscription) are billed monthly and renew automatically until cancelled. Question packs are one-time purchases and do not expire. You may cancel your subscription at any time; access continues through the end of the current billing period. Refunds are issued at our discretion — contact us within 7 days of a charge if you believe one was made in error.

Referral program

When you refer someone to Ask the Record and they sign up using your referral code, both you and the new user receive one month of Pro access free. Referral credits cannot be exchanged for cash and expire if unused after 12 months. We reserve the right to discontinue or modify the referral program at any time.

Intellectual property

The Ask the Record interface, branding, and software are owned by Visionairy, LLC. The underlying government documents are in the public domain. AI-generated answer text is provided to you for personal research use — you may not republish it commercially without attribution.

Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. Visionairy, LLC disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the service.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Deschutes County, Oregon.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of Ask the Record after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
