CIA
This CIA document describes investigations into the intelligence potential of biocommunications, the detection and analysis of electrical events related to brain activity, the uniqueness of iris pigment patterns, and techniques to alter behavior.
This is one record. The archive holds the rest — ask it anything across the MKUltra files and every answer is cited to the page.

The image displays a digital representation of a document's header, superimposed on a dark background with a stylized graphic of a vault door on the left. Across the top, "THE BLACK VAULT" is written in a stylized, white font with a blue glow. Below this title, text states that the document was obtained from "The Black Vault," an online database of declassified government documents, specifically from the MKULTRA/Mind Control Collection. The text further indicates that the collection contains over 20,000 pages declassified by the CIA and provides a URL for access, presented in a bright yellow font. There are no photographs, handwritten annotations, signatures, official stamps, forms, diagrams, tables, redactions, or any visual evidence of experimental procedures or facilities.

The class or'research has the potential of being a powerful tool in the detection of induced behavioral changes, e.g., "brain washing." Psychobiology of Monotony, .... . Description: The of this research is to validate techniques purpos~ found to be useful in detecting tolerance to monotony and sensory depriva tion. These measures will be validated in three •·rorking conditions: 1) a desk job with monotonous work and very little social interaction, 2) work involving moderate routine and i..l'lteraction, and 3) "Hark \vhich requires to a considerable variety of activities and nearly a~~ustment constant social interaction. Foreign-born translators, translator interpreters, and interpreter-guides "tvill be used for 1, 2, and 3 respectively since they are representative of certain groups and condi tions found in the Agency. Data will be on tolerance measures collect~d and criteria measures such as modes of copL~g, performance, and job satisfaction. Background: Prior research on monotony or boredom has focused primarily on vrhat happens in various forms of extended isolation. t-1onotony in less drastic situations can also lead to discomfort and demotivation. There are a number of positions in the Agency which demand a relatively high degree of tolerance to monotony. Persons assigned to these posi tions should have both tolerance for and an effective means of coping with monotony. Consultant in Assessment and ESP -- This will be a continuation of a personal services contract to provide consultation in the areas of (a) extra sensory perception, (b) indirect assessment, and (c) narcotics control. The activity is oriented to pro viding information on current or incipient developments in these fields. The document is a typed page with handwritten annotations in black ink. In the top left corner, there are some handwritten marks and a drawn line. There are also some scribbles and a checkmark on the right side of the page. The text is divided into sections with "Description" and "Background" headings. A circled number "226" is present at the bottom right, and the word "*Unbudgeted" is noted at the bottom left. There are no photographs, diagrams, or forms visible.
The page is a typed document with handwritten annotations. A title, "ASSESSMENT AND SELECTION," is underlined. Several sections are demarcated by headings such as "Description," "Background," and "Psychobiology of Monotony." Marginalia includes a checkmark and a bracket. There are also several handwritten notations, including a possible number "1" and a question mark. The overall appearance suggests a scanned document with some physical degradation, including a coffee stain on the right side of the page.
