The individuals to be contacted in this fashion would be in the portion of previously submitted SSOC reports relative to financial activity and it would be necessary for Memphis to conduct a review of the financial contributors and communicate with the necessary field offices to determine the proper persons to receive the mailing. - 2 - ```json [ {"box_2d": [65, 95, 85, 233], "text_content": "ΜΕ 100-4704"}, {"box_2d": [66, 217, 179, 878], "text_content": "C. consideration should be given to the distribution\nof a large quantity of the reprints on a surreptitious\nbasis at a National SDS function, if possible, the\nMarch 27-30, 1969, National Council mecting to be held\nat the University of Texas, Austin, Texas."}, {"box_2d": [178, 146, 252, 859], "text_content": "D. consideration to the submission of a resolution\nto SDS Headquarters, Chicago, for presentation at the\nNational Council meeting March 27-30, 1969, calling\nfor severance of SDS-SSOC fraternal ties.\nL"}, {"box_2d": [262, 108, 356, 875], "text_content": "In this regard it is noted that such resolutions are\nto be furnished to the CDS National Office, 1608 West Madison\nStreet, Chicago, Illinois, 60612, before March 17, 1960, for\ninclusion in the pre-National Council meeting issue of the \"New\nLeft Notes\"."}, {"box_2d": [347, 113, 592, 866], "text_content": "Memphis feels that New Orleans could be the most\nlogical place from which the resolution should emanate and\ncould be in the best position of evaluating whether or not\nthe resolution should be submitted anonymousi; or in the name\nof the author of the enclosed article, or perhaps\nIf such a\nsubmitted collectively in the names of several persons known\nto be at odds with ESCC in the New Orleans area,\nresolution is submitted, it is felt timing would be important\ninasmuch as if the Desolution arrived at SDS Headquarters not\nbefore March 17, 1909, this would lessen the opportunity co\nSDS Headquarters to make any inquiries as to the authenticity\nof the resolution and increase the likelihood of having the\nresolution published in the \"New Left Ste\" and distributed\nnationally."}, {"box_2d": [595, 126, 769, 892], "text_content": "Σ. consideratior should thereafter be given ,\n'ald\nhaving a follow-up type campaign where article reprint:. .\nbe distributed to other movement groups elsewhere in the crited\nStates such as the Southern Conference Education Fund (SCAF).\nSNCC, and pertinent West Coast movement groups; and also embark\non a campaign on a local level where SXC and CDS are active\nwithin the same area or where SSOC and SDS where article reprint:. .\nbe distributed to other movement groups elsewhere in the crited\nStates such as the Southern Conference Education Fund (SCAF).\nSNCC, and pertinent West Coast movement groups; and also embark\non a campaign on a local level where SXC and CDS are active\nwithin the same area or where SSOC and SDS have joint chapters\nsuch as Memphis, in the first situation, and the Gainesville,\nFlorida SSCC-SD9 Chapter, to further create a chism betweon\nSSCC and SDS."}, {"box_2d": [754, 462, 769, 530], "text_content": "- 3 -"} ] ``` ME 100-4704 It is felt the above mentioned proposals would present an excellent opportunity to confuse and disrupt the over-all new reft type movement in the United States. Memphis is awaiting Bureau instructions relative to what action would be appropriate. A point raised in the enclosed article has aroused the curiosity of Memphis, this being the reference to SSOC receiving funds from the Norman Fund which the article described as "The CIA conduit for the National Student Association, the Southern Regional Council, etc." It is recalled that Memphis has previously reported SSOC Membership Mailing #5 dated 2/14/67, on page 5, carried an article indicating SSCC had received a grant of $2,500 from the Aaron E. Norman Fund, Inc., for the implementation of the SSOC 1966-67 program. In addition, [REDACTED] information from sources as well as other such as [REDACTED] sources, [REDACTED] SSOC Staff member, S.I. subject of the Memphis Office, has most recently made comments in this regard (within the last 2 weeks) to the effect he has been approached on 2 different occasions by 'CIA" to act in an informant capacity relative to SSOC. Memphis would be extremely interested in any information the Bureau could develop through liaison relative to CIA and SSOC as to any financial contributions the Agency may have made to the group or any attempts on the part of CIA to direct or control the operation. No information has been developed relative to [REDACTED] traveling outside the United States since being employed by SSOC; however, it is recalled that [REDACTED] former SSOC Chairman, was active in the affairs of the National Student Association and also traveled to Prague, Czechoslovakia during the summer of 1967, as previously s currently S.I. subject of reported. It is noted that the Memphis Division, and the possibility exists that perhaps [REDACTED] might have a CIA source.
