The typed text details the distribution of a cartoon to individuals associated with Puerto Rican independence groups. Handwritten additions include routing information, dates, and agent signatures. It is noted that [REDACTED] was [REDACTED] of the NPPR and second in command to PEDRO ALBIZU CAMPOS ("Don Pedro") when the latter dismissed him from the NPFR in 1973 because of his [REDACTED] communist activities. It is therefore surprising that [REDACTED] has been able to reassert himself with the NPPR without apparent protest from "Albizuistas". This may be due to the fact that he does not appear at NPPR meetings but has thus far restricted himself to "guest" speaker roles at NFPR functions. At any rate, this letter should bring the issue into the open. The "Accion Patriotica" referred to in the letter is the Accion Patriotica Unitaria (APU) which slowly disintegrated following an internal struggle between [REDACTED] and anti- [REDACTED] for leadership. The New York Junta has the same aims and purposes as the NPPR parent organization, which are to establish Puerto Rico as a free and sovereign republic. It is imperative that leaders of the Movimiento Pro Independencia de Puerto Rico (MPIPR) not participate in [REDACTED] defense. Since one of the leaders of the MPIPR was physi- cally attacked by a member of the Liga Socialista Puertorriqueno (LSP) during the past year, it would not appear that the two organizations would cooperate in any matter. [REDACTED], as you are aware, is a member of the LSP. To precluue the chances of any cooperation between these two groups, it is desired that counterintelligence measures be designed to create additional friction between the MPIPR and the LSP. This matter should receive your immediate attention. [REDACTED] MAILED 3 NOV 18 1966 COMM-FBI 1 - 105-117409 TWK:pag (8) NOTE: REC-39 / [REDACTED] [REDACTED] is on the Security Index.
